Vampire of Sacramento (Short Story)

In the 1980s, a man named Richard Chase terrorized California. He became known as the "Vampire of Sacramento." Chase had a disturbing obsession with drinking the blood of animals and believed that by doing so, he could prevent his heart from shrinking. His obsession escalated, and he began breaking into homes to brutally murder and mutilate both animals and humans.

When he was eventually apprehended, Chase's apartment was found filled with blood-soaked clothing and a blender he used to mix his victims' blood with other substances.

His trial revealed the extent of his mental illness, and he was found guilty but declared legally insane. Richard Chase spent time in a mental institution, but in 1980, he took his own life.

The "Vampire of Sacramento" remains a haunting and disturbing figure in the annals of true crime.
